Back to company
The beginnings of Fixit AG date back to 1896, when the first gypsum plant was built near the Colline du Montet quarry in Bex in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland. Just a few years later, the small, regional gypsum factories merge and the Gipsunion is founded in 1903.
The Scheuber brothers' gypsum factory in Ennetmoos in the canton of Nidwalden, Switzerland, also joins the newly founded Gipsunion. in 1931, work begins on mining raw gypsum for this plant in the Melbach Kerns quarry. This quarry is still part of Fixit AG and high-quality raw gypsum is still mined today.
A new dry mortar plant is opened in Holderbank in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland. This is where Fixit AG's head office is located today, with administration, the factory and the material planning department. Meanwhile, the plant in Bex is completely rebuilt and goes into operation in 1984. A few years later (1989), a new cableway with secondary crusher and a new homogenisation hall are also built at the Bex plant.
A new plant in Untervaz at the foot of the Calanda is built in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland, and opened in 1992.
In 1995, the SAP system is introduced in all plants and business processes are handled using it from this point onwards.
in 1998, parts of Gipsunion and the Fixit plant in Weiach are merged to form today's Fixit AG, and a year later the dry concrete division is added to the company's product range.
A new administration building is being built in Holderbank, Switzerland, to centralise all administrative departments. The new building is officially opened in 2002. In 2003, the mining licence for the Melbach Kerns quarry is extended by 50 years, meaning that raw gypsum can be mined there until 2053.
