The energy-efficient façade renovation of eight residential buildings with a total of 48 flats in the residential development in Riehen was carried out using Fixit 222 Aerogel high-performance insulating plaster (approx. 2,800 m²) and AeroCalce fleece mats (approx. 600 m²). The insulating plaster could be applied directly to the old base coat, saving time and labour. Despite the higher material price, the solution with AeroCalce fleece mats saved costs overall: the entire façade renovation could be carried out in a single stage (instead of the two stages originally planned). The exterior façades of the residential buildings look almost unchanged after the renovation, but the energy consumption of the buildings has been halved.
