Shaping the future – project overview on sustainability

Achieving the set goals step by step

We present various exciting projects that provide a brief insight into our activities in relation to the sustainability goals.

After all, sustainable management is possible with the commitment of all employees in the company. Our guiding principle ‘Preserve values – shape a sustainable future with building materials’ shows how we will achieve our goals together and make a significant contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions and creating a sustainable future.

The changeover and focus on sustainable management affects all areas of the value chain – from material procurement, development and production through to marketing and distribution. This presents us and our customers and suppliers with major challenges. Our Europe-wide targets are ambitious – we are working on realising them in the markets with a bundle of measures.

Sustainable projects of Fixit AG

Recultivation of the gypsum quarry in Melbach Kerns, Switzerland

Oeko-b has been monitoring and supporting Fixit AG for over 20 years in the extraction of gypsum and the recultivation of the finally extracted zones of the gypsum quarry in Ennetmoos, Switzerland. The zones are constantly being recultivated and converted into natural zones.

Careful embankment, water drainage and greenery protect the former extraction site from erosion and landslides. Extensive meadows suitable for agricultural use were also created in suitable places.

Habitats for sand lizards in our gypsum quarry

Together with Pro Natura (IG Haubenmeise subgroup), the Fixit team in Ennetmoos, Switzerland, cleared existing but overgrown dry stone walls in the quarried areas of the Melbach Kerns gypsum quarry of grass, shrubs and bushes.

This makes the stones and walls much more attractive for the endangered sand lizard and also provides other creatures such as insects and birds with a new habitat.

Generate renewable energy with your own photovoltaic systems

The group FIXIT GRUPPE has already installed new photovoltaic systems at numerous locations or expanded existing systems and is continuing to promote the use of renewable energies. Additional PV systems at other locations across Europe are already being planned or even realised.

In Switzerland, two new photovoltaic systems were installed on the roofs of our two plants in Bex and Sennwald. In total, an area of over 5,000 m² was covered with high-quality photovoltaic modules and put into operation.

Fixit 222 Aerogel high-performance insulating plaster

Energy-efficient building renovation and insulation can contribute to climate protection by significantly reducing energy consumption and therefore help to achieve sustainability goals.

The innovative high-performance insulating plaster with Aerogel was developed for the thermal insulation of buildings worthy of preservation or listed buildings with exterior façades that are particularly worthy of protection. It combines the positive properties of mineral lime plaster with the advantages of a high-performance insulating material.

Natural, mineral finishing plasters from Fixit

Our fine plaster products are aesthetically pleasing, safe and particularly durable. The ecologically harmless components white lime and white cement cause significantly fewer emissions than other building materials.

Different textures, colour shades and grain sizes of the fine plaster guarantee an expressive and individual surface design and the products are particularly permeable thanks to their mineral composition.
